WINE CELLAR
The Conca de Barberà is located in the north of the province of Tarragona, Catalonia (Spain). Our winery is located in Pira, but the vast majority of our farms are located in Barberà de la Conca.
It’s a continental Mediterranean climate because la Conca is located close to the sea, just behind the pre-coastal mountain range and surrounded by other mountain ranges that work as limits.
The soils are usually limestone with clays, although in some places we can find river terraces where the river pebbles will give the wines a marked personality.
The vineyards are planted between 450 and 700 metres above sea level. These vineyards create a landscape mosaic completed by olive trees, almond trees, forests and cereal fields. This reality facilitates the biodiversity of traditional fauna of this area such as wild boars, roe deer, rabbits, badgers and genets, among others.
In the winery, we vinify grapes from the family-owned old vineyards of the three classic and historical varieties of this region: the Trepat, the Macabeo and the Parellada.
Organic vineyards are managed with the utmost respect for their surroundings to minimize the impact on the flora and fauna of our region. In the winery the idea is very clear; a good grape fermented with the native yeasts of the grape, without anything additives. The passage of time, rest and patience will gradually make the wines show their full potential.
